The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity finished with a "Celebration of Justice" at the Church of Christ the King in Kents Hill. People from churches across Milton Keynes gathered to celebrate the unity that Christians can discover in following God's call to "do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6.8)
The Salvation Army Band provided music - which included the local classic "Amazing Grace". They rounded off the evening with a stirring march which received a round of applause.
Rev Edson Dube (Methodist) and Rev George Mwaura led the prayers with the help of church members from a range of different denominations.
The Cornerstone Choir sang a number of pieces including compositions by Adrian Boynton inspired by the book of Revelation: "Behold, I make all things new!"
We were particularly blessed to have Bishop Mike Royal with us. Mike is the General Secretary of Churches Together in England and spoke meaningfully about the theme of the week - encouraging us to focus on our common call.Chair of Trustees, Tim Norwood, thanked everyone for making the whole week such an amazing experience and declared that Churches Together in Milton Keynes is now officially "launched".
