The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in Milton Keynes began with a powerful service of prayer and worship at St Mary's Bletchley. The service was led by Pastor Ferdinand Tambwe from Rehoboth PEFA Church and a group of their talented musicians.
Rev Helen Cameron, the Moderator of the Free Churches Group, spoke movingly about the importance of seeing God in all people - and said that the event was a fulfilment of the hopes that denominational leaders had for Christian unity in the city.
The Bishop of Northampton, Rt Revd David Oakley, reminded us that there is no denominational heaven - and thanked the choir for leading us in worship that was both passionate and deeply meaningful.
The Chair of Trustees for CTMK, Tim Norwood, called the event a "historic moment" which built on the rich heritage of Christian unity in Milton Keynes - but took things in a new an exciting direction, with an emphasis on diversity and local leadership.
