Churches Together in Milton Keynes

We are a network of Christian communities in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. We are working together to show God’s love to the Borough and City of Milton Keynes.

Our current priority is to build a strong network of committed member congregations.

We have a particular concern with Poverty, Climate Justice, Refugees, Racial Justice and Mental Health.

The Safe Sick Pay Campaign

The Centre for Progressive Change writes:

The Safe Sick Pay Campaign brings together faith organisations, including the Bishop of London, health organisations like Mind and Macmillan, and businesses and business groups like Legal & General to make the case for Statutory Sick Pay reform.

Currently 10 million employees only get £116 a week of Statutory Sick Pay or less if they fall sick. This leaves families unable to make ends meet, and causes many to end up in poverty.

In the lead up to the election the Safe Sick Pay campaign is organising private meetings in key constituencies across the country between faith organisation, foodbanks and other civil society organisations, and their parliamentary candidates to make the case for them to support Statutory Sick Pay reform if elected.

In Milton Keynes we have involved organisations including the Newport Pagnell Baptist Church, MK Autism, Trubys Garden Team Room, among others. If you are a supporter of sick pay reform, it would be great to have your organisation involved in these meetings.

If you would like more information or would like to be a part of the campaign please email Amanda Walters, Director of the Centre for Progressive Change, at amanda.walters@centreforprogressivechange.org
